Production takes place in a small factory on the island of Bornholm in Denmark. Ailefo is the first and only organic modeling clay on the European market with ingredients from food. The modelling dough in Scandinavian design meets the standards of sustainable production and is allergen-free, because the ingredients consist of algae, mushrooms, fruits and red vegetables. Former nurse Christiane Larsen is the founder of the Ailefo label. The idea of ​​founding the brand came from her daughter's creativity. The mother wanted to develop a product that is environmentally friendly and supports and encourages her daughter's creativity. As a state-certified nurse, she was also aware of the allergy risk of children, which is why she also looked for substances that are allergen-free when developing the modeling clay.

For the foundation of Ailefo ApS (Ailefo Organic Modeling Clay), she gave up her job as a nurse, in which she had worked for 17 years. It took a long time for her to find the right recipe. It was difficult to find a mixture that was not sticky to the fingers, was too dry or was attractive in color. Hundreds of recipes were tried out before the Ailefo organic modeling clay recipe was finally created.

Ailefo finally went on the market in October 2015. The plasticine is a high quality product in terms of sustainability, allergen-free and Scandinavian design. Christianes drive for the foundation was the desire that children play creatively and develop physically and mentally well. This requires products of the highest level that do not neglect aspects of environmental compatibility. Ailefo was already named “Company of the Year” in 2017.

The highlight of the Ailefo modeling clay is that it consists entirely of food. So if your child tries the plasticine, that's not a problem. But don't worry, it doesn't taste good! The Ailefo modeling clay is A-certified. This certificate guarantees that the safety and quality standards not only comply with Danish legislation, but are also based on stricter regulations regarding heavy metals and allergenic substances.

The clay from Ailefo consists of high-quality, organic, food-quality ingredients without fragrances and parabens. Ailefo works exclusively with mild and food-safe preservatives that are approved in the field of organic cosmetics. The plasticine has a very soft texture, made from selected vegetable oils and natural dyes. The label's mission is to produce organic, allergen-free products in high quality and an attractive design.

The special organic vegetable oils give the plasticine texture and softness, ideal for small hands to shape. While playing, the vegetable oils protect the hands against dryness and strengthen the skin barrier. All dyes consist of natural ingredients, they are natural dyes from blue-green algae, mushrooms, grass, other green plants, red fruits and vegetables and burnt sugar.

To guarantee the high quality and safety of the products, the modeling clay is tested and approved by an independent laboratory. An independent consultant and expert is always present during product development.

Recyclable packaging for more sustainability

The packaging of the modeling clay is environmentally friendly, reusable and recyclable. The paper in which the plasticine is packaged is made from 100% recycled paper and the label is stuck to the cardboard tube with a water-based adhesive. The packaging for the individual modeling clay is made of PP plastic and is easy to recycle. The large plastic packaging is made of white PP plastic. They can be reused for storage purposes.
