With its stainless steel bottles, Klean Kanteen wants to set an example by moving away from disposable waste and towards toxic-free alternatives. The bottles and other products are intended to replace disposable products. The first BPA-free reusable stainless steel drinking bottle was launched back in 2004. Today, the company is known worldwide for its products. The vessels are made of 18/8 stainless steel with coated seals. All products are manufactured under fair conditions in China.

Coated, the colored water bottles are made with a chip-resistant Klean Coat powder coating for durability. It is four times more robust and resistant than a conventional acrylic coating. The innovative coating is also far above the legal requirements for material safety and consumer safety.

Because the products are made entirely of stainless steel, they are acid-resistant, food-safe, tasteless, odorless, rust-proof and safe. The number 18 stands for a chromium content of 18 percent, which makes the stainless steel rust-proof. The number 8 indicates the 8 percent nickel content in the material. The remaining 78 percent of stainless steel products are composed of materials such as manganese, silicon, copper, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, molybdenum, zirconium and titanium in varying proportions depending on the weight of the product.

The products are 100% disposable and recyclable in metal waste and the polypropylene lids are also recyclable. In addition, the products are 100% vegan and do not contain any components or ingredients of animal origin and there is no animal testing in the research.

The sealing rings of the bottles are made of food-safe silicone and the sports and coffee caps are made of BPA-free polypropylene. Corrugated cardboard is used to insulate the lids of the food containers.
